Fall
Dear Educator,
It is time to schedule your fall field trip to Spring Meadow Farms. Our field trips are specialized for pre-k, kindergarten, first and second grades. However, we can customize our tours to your curriculum and any age group. Most food is harvested in the fall, and a fall harvest field trip is a excellent way to remind your group that the food comes from a farm. Our theme this year is from the “Farm to the Table.”
Your educational journey will begin with a walking tour of our farm zoo. Your group will meet the chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, geese, pigs and ponies. The children will then experience a short hands-on lesson exploring how our food makes its journey from the farm to the table. We have a pumpkin lab demonstration that children of all ages will love! Once the lesson is complete, your group is free to try our kid’s size corn maze, visit the kiddie corral, take a jump in the straw or explore the farm science table. Our goal is for your group to recognize the importance of harvesting crops and understanding how the food is used in our everyday lives.
Each paying child will receive one pumpkin. Each group will receive a medium pumpkin and fall farm items to display in their classroom as a reminder of what they learned on the farm.
Feel free to stay an hour or stay the day and enjoy a picnic on the farm! We have picnic areas available for those who want to bring a lunch or snacks. A day at the farm will provide everyone with a wholesome, educational experience.
Our educational tours will run Monday through Friday, September 17-October 31. The cost is $7 per child. There is no charge for teachers or parents. Each child will take home a pumpkin. The market will be open for those who would like to purchase pumpkins, produce, fall decor and baked goods.
Please call 410-239-8505 to schedule your visit. Spring Meadow Farms is located at 15513 Hanover Pike (Route 30) Upperco, MD. We cannot wait to see you at the farm!
Sincerely,
The Schneider Family
